Can you hear your skin crying out for help as the Winter elements suck away every ounce of moisture? Here is some advice that will help to invigorate it.
Does your skin look red raw, dry and unloved? It can be difficult to combat the affects of your central heating and the harsh Winter chill on your skin. Like most beauty regimes it comes down to routine! I’m sorry, I don’t have any quick fixes for you. However, these simple tips are sure to bring a little radiance back to face and body.
Always invest in a good quality moisturiser and never, ever leave the house without having applied it first. If you do, you are only asking for trouble as extremes in temperature and the wind will play havoc with your skin.
Take an honest look at your beauty routine and make an effort to improve upon it. Remember to cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and night. Use a skincare range that matches your skin type otherwise you could only be exacerbating any skin problems that you may have. It’s amazing how many people with oily skin think that they don’t need to use a moisturiser. Moisturising balances your skin type by putting water, not oil into the epidermal layer.
It’s a good idea to use a daily moisturiser that’s light enough to re-apply throughout the day, and an overnight intense treatment that will nourish your skin while you sleep.
Do all you can to help the moisturiser to penetrate the skin. Apply it afer a bath or shower, and always before your blow dry your hair, or the heat from the hairdryer will only serve to dry out your skin even further.
Body beautiful
While focusing your efforts on your face, do not neglect the rest of your body. Use a daily, all over body moisturiser.
The best way to get the most out of your body lotion is to exfoliate your skin beforehand.
For a real treat, pay a visit to your local beauty salon for an indulgent, nourishing body treatment.
Our hands tend to be forgotten. Buy a good brand of handcream and apply frequently. Leave it on the window sill ready for when you’ve finished the dishes, or perhaps in the door of your car.
Salon treatments such as a parrafin wax treatment will hlep to add lots of moisture to your nails and cuticles leaving them silky smooth.
The delicate lip area is also prone to drying out over the winter. Apply copious amounts of lipbalm or Vaseline. First remove the dry skin with a baby’s soft toothbrush and then apply the product. I recommend smearing a little Vaseline in the middle of your bottom lip to draw attention to the rest of your mouth, highlighting a well, moisturised, luscious pout.
