The IMRO Live Music Venue of The Year Awards recognises Irish music venues that provide the very highest standards in live music entertainment.
The awards acknowledge the importance that Irish live venues play by providing an avenue for Irish songwriters and musicians to perform.
Thousands of venues qualified for the awards, and in the face of stiff competition, The Ramor Theatre, Virginia has been shortlisted. It now needs your vote.

‘The Begrudgers’ is an entrant in RTÉ’s Storyland 4 competition. Storyland, is a RTÉ initiative which aims to bring, new, on-line drama to a wide audiences. Written and directed by Philip Doherty, ‘The Begrudgers’ is a comedy series that was filmed in Cavan. Many of the cast and crew are past or present students/staff members from Cavan Institute. A new theatre company in Cavan is looking for exciting material from local playwrights. It is also running expert drama workshops to source new talent. Do you think you have got what it takes?

The Moogles Theatre Company
The distinct lack of production of plays by female playwrights, has spurred three women to take the plunge, by registering a new theatre company in Cavan, called The Moogles Theatre Company.
Deirdre O’ Reilly, Catherine McKiernan-Ryan and Alice Lynch met through their interest and involvement in local drama. All three, studied drama together in NUI, Maynooth. “There is a huge amount of great talent in Cavan at the moment”, claims Catherine, “and we think it would be great to give local people a chance to see their work being professionally produced”.

Do you have a distinctive voice? Then maybe you could be featuring in a new, locally produced radio drama for RTE. Producer, Kevin McCann talks to us about his latest project — a RTE radio drama entitled, ‘Coma’.
RTE has commissioned Kevin’s production company, Meccana Teoranta to produce a short drama series for their digital station, RTE Choice. Kevin explained, ” ‘Coma’ is a high concept idea which has taken a few years to develop. Each episode will tell the story of a person in a small town, with a confession to make. The continuing plot line will explore what is happening to their community, why the young man is in the COMA, and also, what will happen if he wakes up and remembers everything.” The 10 episodes will be broadcast over a two-week period in February 2012.

Turkish film, 'Bal' is on the Spring programme of films
The Film Club (film@ramor) was established in March 2005 after the Arts Office ran a series of films in the Ramor Theatre. “I attended these, and Rhonda Tidy stood up at the end of the final screening to ask if anyone was interested in getting involved. I rang her the following day and I’ve been involved ever since in fact, to be honest — I’ve run it ever since!” explained Freda.
“There was a type of committee at first, which soon fell apart. It was used for programming the first season of films in September-November 2005. I then worked voluntarily with two other members who ceased their involvement after about two or three years. So, I’ve been the only person continuously involved since the beginning.”
