Do you feel that you have a creative streak? Have you always wanted to put down your thoughts in writing but have never got around to it? Well, here is your chance to take part in an amazing competition. It is open to everyone.

This new poetry prize, sponsored by the famous Ballymaloe Cookery School in association with the Cavan-based arts and literature magazine, The Moth, was launched in June this year.
“A little poetry enriches our everyday lives,” says Ballymaloe’s Darina Allen, “so I’m delighted to be sponsoring this prize.”
With a first prize of €2,000, second prize of €1,000 and third prize of €500, the competition is open to everyone, and will be judged by Matthew Sweeney, whose most recent collection was shortlisted for The Irish Times/Poetry Now Award and the T. S. Eliot Prize. It costs €6 per poem to enter, and you can enter as many poems as you like.
The closing date is looming: its 31 December 2011. So why not put pen to paper and get writing. The winner will be announced at a reception in Ballymaloe House in March 2012, to which the three winners will be invited to read. So a night of luxury and fine dining is assured!
